UNREIMBURSED MEDICAL EXPENSES
Pursuant to Pa. R.C.P. 1910.16-6(c), unreimbursed medical expenses of the obligee or the children are “additional expenses” that may be allocated between the parties in a support matter in proportion to their respective net incomes. The obligor’s share of unreimbursed medical expenses may be added to his/her basic support obligation, and included in the child support order, or paid directly to the obligee or the health care provider. Medical expenses are annual unreimbursed medical expenses in excess of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) per person, calculated on a calendar year basis. Proof of the unreimbursed medical expenses must be provided to the other party by March 31st of the following year. Medical expenses eligible for reimbursement include: insurance co-payments and deductibles and all expenses incurred for reasonably necessary medical services and supplies, including, but not limited to, surgical, dental, and optical services, and orthodontia. Medical expenses not eligible for reimbursement, unless specifically directed in the court order, include: cosmetic, chiropractic, psychiatric, psychological, or other services.
